Canon launches full-frame 6D, Olympus updates PEN line

6dPhotographers have a couple new cameras to eye following a pair of announcements Monday morning.

Canon has pulled the wraps off a new full-frame DSLR camera, the new 6D.

It’s designed to slot in between the current price point of the 5D Mark II, with features similar to that of the new 5D Mark III.

Olympus gets tougher with new TG-1 iHS camera

Olympus has added more heft to its camera lineup, toughening up its Tough series with a new model that’s designed to be able to take more abuse and take better shots.

This particular model – the TG-1 iHS, is waterproof to 40 feet, shockproof to 6.6 feet and freezeproof to -10 C. It’s also able to withstand 220 lbs. of crushing weight.

Review: Olympus captures it right with the OM-D

The camera, which resembles the OM from yesteryear, is hitting stores with an incredibly nostalgic look while packing impressively modern features.

Especially when it’s wearing its silver coating, the E-M5 sports a classic old-school film camera look. But that’s about where most of the comparisons with the camera of yesteryear end.
