Apple’s next frontier: your car’s dashboard
That’s because the tech company was just given a patent that lets you adjust car controls using a touchscreen.
Apple’s foray into the automotive world isn’t a certainty, but it’s looking like a possibility that will likely come true.
Getting the patent is just once step along the path to Apple’s domination of the automotive sector, and given their track record – anything is possible.

In English, the auto touchscreen could let you turn virtual knobs to crank up the air conditioning, or crank up the tunes from your iPhone.
But like any Apple device, it would also be a smart device and keep safety in mind.
So it wouldn’t let you check your email while driving, for example. But when the vehicle is in “park” you might be able to do so.
However – there isn’t a lot of consistency between the systems. And some are much harder to use than others.
Also – automakers have rarely been quick to adapt to new digital technology. The Aux-in jack for MP3 players and iPhones doesn’t really cut it, guys.
So if Apple could make one automotive operating system that would be consistent across all vehicles, they can definitely give it shot.
Would you want an Apple touchscreen in your dashboard to control your car?
