Living Social hacked
Anyone who has used LivingSocial for cheap daily deals should take some precautionary steps after the social savings site was hacked.
The hackers got names, email addresses, dates of birth and encrypted passwords. Credit card numbers were not stolen, the daily deal service said.
As a result, anyone who has ever used LivingSocial was asked to immediately change their password.
It's about the only piece of personal information you could change, considering your birthday and name isn't exactly something you can change from your smartphone.
They're also recommending that people who used the same email address and password at LivingSocial for other websites and services (ie. Facebook, email, etc.) also change their passwords on the other sites.
While the stolen passwords were hashed (encrypted), it's possible that the cyber criminals could potentially figure out the key to crack the passwords, and compromise other accounts.
