Tim Hortons to offer free Wi-Fi

Tim Hortons Free WiFIYou’ll now be able to browse Facebook and check your hockey pool while sipping on your double-double.

Tim Hortons will offer free Wi-Fi inside most of its locations by September, the company announced today.

The free web access will offer connectivity to students, businesstypes and Facebook addicts.

Work is already being done to wire up the restaurants with wireless hotspots, they said in a statement issued Thursday. The goal is to have 90 per cent of its shops sending out Wi-Fi by September.

Bell was chosen to offer the Internet service following a “rigorous six-month testing process” with other telecoms.

Tim Hortons’ CEO said they’re rolling out the free Wi-Fi project to make life easier for guests – and to offer more convenience.

After all, they won’t be the only coffee shops offering free wireless Internet. Actually, they might be one of the last.

Almost everyone knows Starbucks offers free Wi-Fi, along with oodles of other independent coffee shops. Heck – even burger joints, such as McDonald’s, got into the business of offering guests free Wi-Fi with their Big Macs.

But then again, how many people don’t have Internet on their smartphones? Well, at least they’ll be able to surf the ‘net without eating into their data plan.

Would you use free Wi-Fi at Tim Hortons?
