Twitter improves Facebook integration

Twitter has ramped up its level of integration with Facebook, quietly rolling out improvements to cross-posted content.

Usernames, hashtags and links to photos are now ‘active’ links when Tweets are cross posted to Facebook.

Previously, Facebook users wouldn’t be able to click through to usernames, hashtags and some photo links if a Tweet was cross posted.

Essentially, anyone who wanted to click through to your Twitter account, follow a hashtag or see a photo you linked to had to do a little bit of copy-and-paste legwork. Not quite the most ideal or simple way of doing things.

But now, Twitter and Facebook will be friends with the rich new integration. One of the features, which I think may have the biggest impact, is that tweeted photos will now appear in the Facebook post.

The new feature also means users can post to Facebook Pages from Twitter as well.

Twitter never made a major announcement about the new level of integration. Rather, it was more of a quiet roll-out that happened at the end of May, according to a Twitter spokesperson quoted by Mashable.

Which social network do you prefer? Facebook or Twitter?
