Are you a Geek Dad?
Every neighbourhood or family friend has one. The can troubleshoot a PC infested with more viruses than a lab’s petri dish. They can restore a once-dead Internet connection by typing in some strange numbers in a web browser. When it seems like the cable box can’t talk to the TV, they turn the two foes into best friends.
It’s the Geek Dad – a character Linksys has tried to sum up in this neat infographic.
According the survey from Linksys, 82 per cent are music lovers, 65 % enjoy the outdoors and 77 per cent enjoy watching sports.
They also think they’re pretty great, too. About 70 per cent think they’re the coolest dads on the block because they make a home their kids’ friends enjoy hanging out. Geek Dads are a confident bunch too – 91 per cent of survey respondents responded that way.
But it’s not all stardom. The survey found 35 per cent of Geek Dads said their partners got annoyed when they spent time along playing with technology. If my Xbox counts, that’s easily a true statistic.
Women are also known for being geeky too. The average online gamer is, according to this report, a woman.
Do you consider yourself a Geek Dad? Is it a bad thing?

I think a more accurate term to describe these games is “casual” games. They require little effort to learn, are easy to control, can be played in short bursts without penalty, and offer continual play or quick finishes without needing to save. That’s a casual game by definition.
