Apple rolls out app charts for Canada

Apple has introduced app charts for Canada this week, letting us Canucks know what’s hot and popular north of the 49th parallel.

With their new stats, we can see a list of the most-downloaded free and paid apps for the iPhone and iPad in Canada.

Previously, the app charts were based on what everyone else (Americans) were downloading.

Us Canucks have a unique interest in everything from music to movies, so it only makes sense that we get our own list of the mobile software that we like.

Topping the list of paid apps for both the iPhone and iPad during the inaugural week of charts is...Angry Birds.

Actually – games clinched several of the titles in the top app lists, comprising almost everything in the list of free iPhone apps and most of the free iPad apps.

When it comes to things people actually have to pay for (I know, coding these things costs money!), I’m not surprised to see What’s App in the list for the iPhone.

That app is an instant messenger that works across multiple platforms, so you can chat with your friends even if they’re on a BlackBerry, Android or iOS device.

What’s App users also receive instant sent, receipt and read notifications – similar to BBM notifications.

Not surprisingly, the remarkable iPhoto app made the list for the iPad’s top paid apps. If you have a memory card/camera adaptor for the Apple’s tablet, this app makes photo editing a breeze.

What’s your favourite iPhone/iPad app?
